A body is so sensitive and vulnerable; the more subtle you look, the more you discover.
Bikram Yoga came on my path in 2010. I suffered from lower back complaints, sometimes I could barely walk. According to the doctors, I had a hernia and an operation had to come. I chose Bikram Yoga because of the warmth, and the basis I earlier had with Yoga. After the first two lessons I was hooked: this was what my body and I needed! I have been there every day for three months, then some days even twice a day.
From student to teacher
Then it went fast. I participated in 2012 in the Dutch championships Bikram Yoga. That meant pushing my limits, I am shy in nature and the thought that I had to stand on a podium… But I loved it! I was completely concentrated and I did the postures to my body’s ability. Not long after I inquired with studio-owner Lydia about the possibility to become a teacher, and in the autumn of 2012 I went to the Bikram Yoga Teacher Training in Los Angeles. I now teach at Bikram Yoga Rotterdam and sometimes Bikram Yoga Nijmegen.
Teaching Yoga
Yoga has been my guiding principle from the moment that I have become conscious in life. A body is so sensitive and vulnerable; the more subtle you look, the more you discover. From that experience I make the connection with the students. It makes teaching for me endlessly fascinating.
Bikram Yoga beginner’s tip
Look carefully at yourself by looking for the physical limits of your own body. Learn to understand the emotions and pain that can be released and thus gain new insights into the connection between body and mind.
